Creatives

Email, banner, text link, pop up, pop under and video creatives, each with its own tracking link for per-creative attribution.

Creatives

A creative is the actual thing an affiliate places: the email drop, the banner, the text link, the pop, the video unit. In Offer Capsule creatives hang off the offer, so the advertiser supplies them once and every approved affiliate finds them in their portal with a ready-to-use link already built. The important part is not the storage - it is that each creative carries its own tracking link, so when clicks come back you know which asset produced them, not just which offer did.

The creative types

Offer Capsule ships six creative types, one for each way traffic is typically placed:

  • Email - creative copy and HTML for affiliates running email drops.
  • Banner - display units in whatever sizes the advertiser supplies.
  • Text link - a plain link for contextual and in-content placement.
  • Pop up - units served in a new foreground window.
  • Pop under - units served behind the current window.
  • Video - video creative for in-stream and in-page placement.

The type is not just a label. It tells the affiliate what they are looking at, it lets you organise an offer's assets by placement rather than by upload order, and email creatives in particular are treated differently by click screening.

Per-creative tracking links

Each creative gets a copyable tracking link of its own. Mechanically it is the affiliate's normal encrypted link for that offer with a creative identifier appended, so the click that comes back is stamped with both who sent it and what they placed. Nothing else about the affiliate's setup changes - same link format, same fraud gates, same conversion path - but the attribution gets one level finer.

Why per-creative attribution matters

Offer-level numbers tell you an affiliate is converting at some rate. Creative-level numbers tell you why. Two affiliates running the same offer at very different EPCs are usually running different creatives, and without per-creative links that difference is invisible; it just looks like one affiliate is better than the other. With them you can see which unit is carrying the offer, tell the advertiser what to make more of, and tell the affiliate what to lead with. It also makes retiring a creative safe, because you can see what it was producing before you pull it.

Email creatives and click screening

Email traffic legitimately arrives with no referer and in bursts, because a drop goes out to a whole list at once. When a click carries a creative identifier that resolves to an email creative, Offer Capsule recognises that and skips the empty-referer and velocity checks that would otherwise flag it. Every other check still runs. That is the practical reason to type your creatives correctly: an email creative filed as a banner will have its own traffic screened as though it came from a web placement.

In the affiliate portal

Affiliates see the creatives for each offer they are approved on, with the link for each one ready to copy. They do not build links by hand and they do not need to know how the encoding works, which removes the most common source of broken affiliate integrations: a hand-assembled URL with a parameter in the wrong place. Creative changes are audit-logged like every other offer mutation.

Creatives arrive with imported offers

If an offer comes in from an external network rather than being built by hand, its creatives come with it. A re-sync updates the same offer in place rather than duplicating it, so the creative set stays current without anyone re-uploading anything.

See how the underlying links are constructed on tracking links, how to slice the resulting traffic further on sub id tracking, and what the affiliate actually sees on the affiliate portal.
